| This course, which sits on a pristine site outside of Williamsburg, is a mountain-style course carved from hardwoods and an understory of holly and mountain laurel. It features seventy-foot elevation changes, large-scale bunkers, spring-fed creeks and deep-cut ravines. The fairways were carved out of valleys, and the greens sit atop greens and cliffs. At every turn, golfers will be faced with an array of options, some manageable, some overwhelming. A formidable challenge is hole #17, a 172-yard, par 3, which plays from one high spot to another with trouble lurking on both sides of the deep green. The final hole is a great driving hole with the green set perilously on a steep ledge. |
